Joyce Hopkins Lapata

January 14, 1935 — September 5, 2024

Joyce Hopkins Lopata of Richmond, Texas went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2024. Joyce was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 1-14-1935. In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother and loving wife to Ewald Lopata; she was an inspiration to her family and friends. She loved doing charity work and helping those less fortunate in the community. She returned to the workforce in 1972 where she worked as a sales representative in the grocery business.

Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alice and Leo Camburn, whose love and guidance shaped her early years. She is also preceded by her dear sister, Linda Web, and her cherished son, Vaughn Dixon. 

Joyce’s legacy continues through her devoted husband of 25 years, Ewald Lopata, who was a steadfast partner and a source of immense love and support. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Scott and Jan Dixon, Bruce and Pam Dixon, Carla and Bob Foshay, and Michelle and Andrew Thrash. Each of them carries forward the values and love Joyce instilled in their lives.

Her enduring spirit lives on in her grandchildren, Chris and Stephanie Shanks, Jonathan and Kristen Dixon, Eric and Savanah Dixon, Zachary Wilson, Chad Dixon, Bailey Wilson, and Addison Wilson. Her step-grandchildren are Lew & Myra Foshay, Simon Foshay, Angie & Matt Kelly, Jenny & Jeff Grenger, Christy & Aaron Ortiz and Skylar Trash. Additionally, her great-grandchildren—Cadence Shanks, Stella Dixon, Colt Dixon, Everett Dixon, and Warren Dixon and her step great-grandchildren are Shelby Foshay, Bergen Foshay, Evy Grenger, Anna Grenger, Cynia Kelly, Judy Ortiz, Bobby Ortiz, and Eric Ortiz serve as a living tribute to Joyce’s boundless love and guidance. Their presence is a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact she made on her family.

Memorial services will be held at Joy Lutheran Church at 10:00 am on September 13, 2024. The church is located at 717 FM-359 in Richmond TX 77406. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joyce’s name to Joy Lutheran church.
