Amber Nicole Martinez, 38, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born on Father's Day June 15, 1986, in Houston at Heights Hospital. The best Father's Day gift Jerry ever received. She spent her life surrounded by the people and places she loved most.
Amber graduated from Kingwood High School and went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Lone Star College. She had a deep passion for learning and literature, which she shared with others through her volunteer work at Love Elementary School’s library. She knew every child by name, and they, in turn, adored her presence and kindness.
Amber was a creative spirit who found joy in collaging, journaling, and reading books. She had an adventurous soul that led her to travel often and explore new restaurants. A devoted coffee lover, she cherished quiet moments with a good book as much as she did exciting outings with her little sister, niece, and nephew. Her love for poetry, music, tattoos, and the beach reflected her vibrant personality and appreciation for life's beauty.
Above all else, Amber was the heart of her family. She was a beloved daughter to Jerry and Lisa (Zahn) Martinez; a cherished sister to Alana and Rihanna Martinez; a loving niece to numerous aunts and uncles; and a treasured granddaughter to Connie Whaley Zahn. She was also an adoring Tia to her niece Eve Esparza and nephew Jorge Esparza Jr. (Bubba), as well as a devoted goddaughter to Jesse and Julie Martinez and godmother to Mya Aggi. Her best friends Jessie Rodriguez and Margarita Garcia were like family to her. Amber also leaves behind many cousins, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Floyd R. Zahn, Martha G. Martinez, Eduardo M. Martinez; great-grandparents Theodore Jacob Zahn, Evelyn Ondrasek Zahn, Albert Zajicek, Cora Kirby Whaley, James Warren Whaley; aunt Martha Martinez; and cousin Leeza Martinez.
Amber’s warmth radiated through her contagious smile and heartfelt hugs. She embraced life with love for those around her and left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Heights Presbyterian Church Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 1:30, May Amber’s memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
